Monkeypox or Shingles? Take your pick...

Monkeypox updates – and strange anomalies

DGS health authority updates on monkeypox – now reported to have ‘exceeded the barrier of 500 cases’ in Portugal – have thrown up some very strange anomalies this week. Photographs of monkeypox found online are EXACTLY the same as photographs for shingles – a nasty virus generally found in people with compromised immune systems. The photographic similarities (indeed, the apparent use of EXACTLY the same photograph to illustrate both afflictions) can be found by searching both ‘monkeypox Portugal’ and ‘shingles hands’. The image is above. What does it all mean? DGS is not however asking these questions: the health authority simply reports that 42 more people have been infected with monkeypox in Portugal in the last week. There are now 515 cases on national territory. All but one of them in men, generally men who have sex with men.
