On Sunday, October 1, a family fun day, including a raffle, bric-a-brac stall and auction took place at the São Brás Inn to raise funds for the bombeiros of São Brás de Alportel.
The funds raised on the day amounted to 2,064 euros.
All items for the auction had been donated by local people and business and included a bottle of wine from Cliff Richard’s vineyard signed by Sir Cliff himself, a football shirt signed by the entire Newcastle “stars” team, an opportunity to cut a CD at a recoding studio and one week’s free bed and breakfast at the São Brás Inn.
Organisers, Angela and Steve Williams, would like to thank all those who helped on the day and donated prizes for the auction and raffle, which included local restaurants: A Mangedoura, Bom Amigo, Churrasqueira São Brás, Fonte de Pedra, O Tachino do Algarve, Biera Serra and Sabores do Campo. Prizes were also donated by O Paeafuso, Lavandaria São Brás, Andy the Barber of Almancil, Taninha Boutique, Vicky’s Celebration Cakes, M Hunt, Mobile Body Therapist and Steve McKie, who donated a day’s carpentry work for the auction.
Angela and Steve would also like to thank Sindal Wholesalers, Cerfaro LDA, Pinguinha & Bota LDA, Kiss FM and São Brás FM for their publicity and all those who attended to support this worthwhile cause. The event was a huge success, provided a fantastic days entertainment for the locals and raised a huge amount of money for the local heroes of São Brás.
