A GIANT nativity scene on a roundabout south of São Brás de Alportel has been vandalised for the third consecutive year with the culprits making off with the donkey from the scene.
Câmara officials, predicting vandalism, had screwed the donkey’s legs into the nativity scene stage in the centre of the roundabout. However, the vandals were able to forcibly remove the donkey, leaving only one leg behind.
The donkey will not be replaced this year as there is no time and officials believe it will only be taken again, as in previous years. The rest of the nativity scene remains intact.
