Missing man with Alzheimer’s last seen in Portimão area nine days ago

Manuel José Rochato went missing on Thursday, July 20. His family asks anyone with information on his whereabouts to call them and contact the authorities.

Manuel José Rochato, a 60-year-old man with Alzheimer’s, has been missing from the village of Figueira in Portimão since Thursday, July 20.

Searches to locate him were initially carried out with the help of the family, the local population, GNR soldiers and elements of the Portimão Volunteer Firefighters in the parish of Mexilhoeira Grande and other areas of the municipalities of Portimão, Monchique and Aljezur. However, according to the family, the authorities have stopped searching for him.

Manuel José Rochato, who has now been missing for nine days, was wearing cream shorts and a light shirt when he left his house in Figueira. His wife, Nidia Rochato, was able to contact him on his mobile phone. However, as he suffers from Alzheimer’s, he was unable to tell her where he was.

According to the Correio da Manhã newspaper, his mobile phone, which has since been turned off, last gave off a GPS signal in the Marmelete area in the municipality of Monchique.

Manuel’s wife has made a desperate appeal on social networks for anyone who sees him to contact the GNR or the family on the following number: 960 438 648.
