Missing British children reunited with parents

Three British children who had been reported missing by their parents in Albufeira on Tuesday were found by police in their hotel room.

The couple, who were on a family holiday in the tourist hotspot, lost sight of their children, aged 5, 6 and 7, while visiting the downtown area by the tunnel that leads to Pescadores beach.

The disappearance was initially reported by the parents to a municipal police officer, who immediately informed the local GNR about the incident.

The three children were found 10 minutes later by the GNR, who were accompanied by the mother, at the family’s hotel room 400 metres away.

It is alleged the children decided to walk to the hotel where they were staying after they wandered off from where the parents were and got lost.

A spokesman from the GNR told the Algarve Resident: “The disappearance was reported to us in the afternoon but fortunately the children were found shortly after.

“This was simply a case of distraction on behalf of the parents and we are glad they were reunited with their children so soon and are able to enjoy the rest of their holidays.”
