Algarve badminton stars Pedro Martins and Telma Santos were unable to prevent Portugal’s early exit from the sport’s European team championships in Holland recently. The men followed an opening 5-0 loss to Russia with two further 4-1 defeats at the hands of their Bulgarian and Welsh counterparts while the women were beaten by Bulgaria, Finland and Estonia in successive group encounters.
