An earthquake measuring 2.6 on the Richter scale with its epicentre 10 kilometres south of Monchique was registered in the Algarve on Monday afternoon.
According to Portugal’s sea and atmosphere authority (IPMA), the quake was felt at 4.50pm in Lagoa, Silves and Portimão. No damage was reported.
Several other tremors were registered round the region on the same day though none were strong enough to be felt.
