Portuguese Minister for Foreign Affairs, Teresa Gouveia, has expressed outrage at the recent terrorist attacks in Iraq that left 143 dead and 465 injured.
In a message sent to the President of the Iraqi governing council, Seyyid Muhammed Bahr ul-Iloom, and her opposite number, Hoshiyar Mahmud Muhammed al-Zibari, Gouveia offered her condolences to the government and the Iraqi people. “The attacks are an attempt to sabotage the stabilisation process, undermine political normalisation and security and sow divisions among the community,” said Gouveia.
The attacks came a day after the approval of a new transitory administrative law, which will serve as the basis of the country’s administration until elections are called and a formal constitution is adopted.
