Minimum wage increases

Portugal’s minimum wage rose by €10 to €485 a month as from January 1.

Further increases will be implemented in two phases, in May and September, so that the minimum wage reaches €500 later this year.

In 2006, it had been agreed by the Government that the minimum wage would become €500 from January 1, 2011 but due to the current economic crisis, it could not be implemented so early in the year.
