Despite the lack of the Christmas lights in the Lagoa municipality, there was no lack of Christmas cheer as children from across the area filled the streets with parades and festive fun.
In Lagoa the Fatacil was transformed into a winter wonderland as more than 1,300 children from the eight primary schools and eight nursery schools in the area came together for Christmas shows on December 15 and 16.
Father Christmas gave every child a present, including chocolates from the Grupo Motard Amigos de Lagoa, motorbike club, whose members all dressed up for the party while riding their motorbikes through the city.
Lagoa was a sea of red on December 17 as local school children paraded through the streets, while in Carvoeiro the nursery children rode around the town on a specially decorated train, singing Christmas songs to passers-by on December 16.
Meanwhile, Lagoa Câmara also held a Christmas party for 800 senior citizens of the municipality and around 200 families, considered to be in need, received special Christmas hampers of food on December 20.
