Millions dodge Portugal’s tolls

A million vehicles passed through Portugal’s traditional tolls network during 2015 without paying, Via Verde spokesperson Margarida Cordeiro has announced. Of these, “more than 500,000 paid up voluntarily”, but the rest have to be followed up. The ‘traditional network’ does not include roads like the A22 that used to be free, nor roads run by Lusoponte or Ascendi, writes Correio da Manhã.
