Military police investigate soldier’s shooting death

Military police are investigating the death of 25-year-old soldier José Freitas as he was guarding the armoury of the Mechanised Brigade at Santa Margarida military camp in Constância (Santarém) on Sunday. President Marcelo has already sent his condolences to the young man’s family, who live in Madeira. The circumstances of second-sergeant José Freitas’ death however have not been explained. No one else appears to have been involved in the incident.
