Peter Kingdon Booker will be presenting a talk about the military orders in Portugal during his next event in November.
During the reconquest of Portugal and Spain, the military orders played a huge role. Often we hear about the Hospitallers, the Templars, the Order of Christ, the Order of Santiago and later the Order of Avis but few know details about their roles.
Peter Kingdon Booker will be explaining the role of these military orders, examining just who the knights were, how they were recruited and what effects they had on the reconquest.
The first of the talks is at the convent in Lagoa on November 16 from 6.30pm, cost two Euros, and this will be repeated at the municipal library in Tavira on November 28 at 11am, where entrance is free.
