Portugal legend Luís Figo has finally ended a summer of speculation by leaving Real Madrid for Inter Milan.
It is believed that Liverpool, also interested in the ageing midfield star, were not prepared to meet Figo’s wage demands of four-and-a-half million euros per year, a sum that Inter will pay for two seasons. A transfer fee was not involved in the deal. The Portuguese international is linking up with two former colleagues at the Giuseppe Meazza Stadium. Both Santiago Solari and Walter Samuel, the latter having cost 16 million euros, have left Madrid for Milan this summer.
