Let me introduce you to a special kind of Family Boutique Hotel in the Algarve.
This is the story of Miguel, a well-paid businessman who travelled around the world, staying in four- and five-star hotels. Miguel felt uncomfortable, alone, and unhappy in such accommodation because the clinical, overly modern environment had no personal touch. Miguel realised he could do it better in his homeland, Portugal.
Miguel searched for the right location in the Algarve, away from the hustle and bustle of tourist areas, and found a large plot with a ruin north of Faro within a National Agricultural Reserve.
Initially, this presented challenges to proceed with his project, but with the right people, lawyers and architects, work began in 2015, taking two years to complete.
Finally, the day arrived, and Miguel’s dream had come true: to create a different kind of family boutique hotel with charm, service and comfort, nestled in a peaceful, beautiful, natural environment with incredible views, not far from the beach and amenities.
The hotel provides nine large, stylish double bedroom suites with private terraces, mini bar, international TV, high-speed internet, and all other important amenities.
The property marries modern comfort with traditional style, based on exceptional architecture and technical specifications.
The gated guesthouse comprises an entrance hall with reception and very high ceilings – airy and flooded with light and access to the outdoor terraces towards the service centre with adjacent kitchen and restaurant.
Located in the lower part of the building, there is a huge communal welcome/reception lounge with a wine cellar, games rooms, staff accommodation and technical room/storage.
The exterior offers a swimming pool with leisure areas, lawns, seating, a big orchard, plus vegetables for organic cuisine. Guests can walk around the large plot and enjoy nature in absolute tranquility.
The hotel provides a breakfast buffet and dining with healthy and organic food. The evening menu changes daily including a vegetarian and children’s option in addition to a well-prepared selection of quality wines and beverages. Miguel always tries to fulfil the culinary wishes of his guests.
The property is of sustainable quality and well insulated. Heated by three-way air conditioning and two fireplaces, it features a home lift, borehole and mains water, double glazing, biological septic tanks, garden with tropical fruits and vegetables, providing organic produce.
The boutique hotel is open most of the year, closed in the winter, with very good revenue.
Miguel has given the hotel a deeply personal touch and this is extremely popular with guests – many are repeat clients and recommendations. He has worked exceptionally hard over the last few years to make his dream come true – investing all his energy and drive into the business until life changed in an instant when he had a serious health scare.
Miguel slowly recovered, but he knew, right from the start, that he could not continue to run the business like before. It is sad, but he needs to look now for a worthy successor who respects his creative work and dream.
The Boutique Hotel is now for sale and has potential for the following: continuing as a successful Family Boutique Hotel, a commercial project for ‘Golden Visa’ or, alternatively, with alterations and further investment, it could be converted into a large family home. It is also the perfect venue to host events such as weddings, birthdays, and family gatherings/celebrations.
