Vila Joya hotel-restaurant in Albufeira will begin hosting a six day gastronomic festival on Sunday with an original menu each day, devised and cooked by some of the world’s best chefs.
As well as the resident Austrian chef Dieter Koschina, who made Vila Joya the only restaurant in Portugal with two Michelin stars, there will be menus devised by a further 11 world renowned and Michelin starred chefs.
The festival, designated Tribute to Claudia, started last year as a tribute to the founder of the Vila Joya hotel, Claudia Jung.
“Last year, when we celebrated Vila Joya’s 25 years, the festival was so successful that we decided to make it a regular occurrence,” said Gedhard Koschina, Vila Joya’s director.
Each day from January 13 to 19, a new seven-dish menu will be available, including a selection of national wines, from one of the visiting Michelin starred chefs. The final dinner on January 19 promises to be a surprise from the Vila Joya team.
“This is a unique event in Portugal, thanks to the reputation of the international chefs that will be present,” said Dieter Koschina.
The cost of the dinners varies between 180 and 250 euros, according to the level of the chef, with 50 euros of this being donated by Vila Joya to an Algarve based charity yet to be chosen.
