For those who know little, if anything at all, about Mexican music, here is your chance. Mexican musical ensemble ‘Ditrambo’ is touring Portugal this month as part of a collaboration initiative launched by the Mexican Embassy.
The group of 11 musicians will be performing in the Algarve on February 21 and 22 – at Lagoa’s municipal auditorium and Lagos cultural centre respectively (9.30pm) – and then going on to Lisbon’s Palácio da Foz on February 26 (7pm).
Showcasing songs from the 16th and 17th century, written by Mexican, Spanish and even Portuguese composers, the concerts will be unusual in as much as actress Daniela Salazar will present them while also telling old Mexican folk tales throughout the course of the evenings.
Tickets cost €6 for the general public.
