The Algarve Movement of Users of Public Services (MUSP Algarve) has organised a protest against the reported closure of the Social Security office in São Bartolomeu de Messines.
The demonstration on June 9 will begin at 10am outside the office.
“MUSP Algarve and the population do not understand how such an important public service can close, especially in such a large parish with dispersed and aging citizens who have great difficulties travelling or handling their matters on the internet,” the movement says.
It adds that “not all people have a car or financial availability to travel to Silves” and that this is “not the first time that the people of São Bartolomeu de Messines have been called to firmly oppose any closure, partial or definitive, of this service.”
