Bulk carrier Ionic Hawk is today being assessed for damages after mistakenly crashing into one of the pillars of Lisbon’s 25 de Abril suspension bridge. The incident happened yesterday afternoon. The bridge – undoing long-term maintenance – does not appear to have suffered any structural damage. Not so the 180-long merchant ship flying under the flag of the Marshall Islands which was navigating the Tejo on a trip to Lisbon from Casablanca.
