NORBERT LANGENSIEPEN, a talented musician from Sesmarias (Lagoa), died unexpectedly in September. He was a familiar sight playing on the streets of the Algarve. Popular with all those who knew him for his warm smile and easygoing ways, he will be greatly missed.
Born in Germany in 1956, he moved to Portugal in the mid-nineties. A talented guitarist and composer, he played a wide variety of music, ranging from his own compositions to classical and popular songs. He drew inspiration for his music not only from the Algarve but also from his many travels to Asia, South America and Australia.
An avid football fan and tennis enthusiast, he was well known for his zest for life. A warm-hearted family man, he leaves behind a wife, Petra, and two children, Lena and Paul.
Friends are arranging a benefit afternoon on October 16, where fellow musicians and street artists will be performing at the Três Macacos bar in Ferragudo, starting at 3pm and all proceeds will go to his family.
