The stage is set for the first night of the Al-Buhera Festival taking place in Albufeira. The group Al-Driça will perform a belly dancing display accompanied by Mediterranean music tonight (August 18), from 8.30pm, in the Largo Eng. Duarte Pacheco (Albufeira’s Old Town).
Uxu Kalhus will perform at 10pm at Fisherman’s beach, playing traditional Portuguese and European music with undertones of afro, ska, rock and hip-hop, as well as a hint of drum and bass. The evening will come to a close with the Romanian act, Fanfare Ciocarlia, taking the stage at 11pm.
Tomorrow night (August 19), at Fisherman’s beach, Grupo dos Pauliteiros de Sendim will kick off the evening’s action at 8.30pm, followed by local act Grupo Banda Alhada at 10pm. Tito Paris will conclude the event from 11pm, with sounds from Cape Verde. The festival should prove to be very entertaining and a little quirky, so enjoy.
