The first meeting for months at Infarmed to discuss the Covid situation has ended with no new measures being enforced. The concerns of public health specialists have been noted, but the overall message – beyond encouragement to the elderly and vulnerable to get ‘boosted’ – is for people to act according to their understanding that Covid is still an international health emergency for which vigilance must be maintained. Health minister Manuel Pizarro reiterated there is “no epidemiological indicator” justifying the need for regular meetings at Infarmed, of the kind that took place during the pandemic – and which certain public health specialists had been hoping for.
