“Gourmet” versions of Mediterranean Diet recipes have been published in two separate cookbooks by the regional development commission CCDR-Algarve.
The first, entitled ‘Receitas dos Chefes’, includes recipes from seven chefs of “respected restaurants” who were asked to create a starter, a fish dish, a meat dish, a dessert and a cocktail. The competition was part of the first Mediterranean Diet Festival, held last May in Faro, and judged by three top chefs – Leonel Pereira, Henrique Leis and Henrique Leandro.
The other book is named ‘Reinventando sabores mediterrânicos’ and was created by the winners of the competition, the team at L14, the famous restaurant of the Salgados Dunas Suite Hotel in Albufeira.
Catarina Cruz from CCDR Algarve says the books feature “some tricky recipes” but also “some very accessible ones” – all of them with a “gourmet touch”.
The books cost €5 each and can be purchased at CCDR Algarve in Faro or via email.
