A FAIR to promote the Algarve’s Mediterranean diet is due to be held at the Pavilhão Municipal José Rosa Pereira in Martinlongo, Alcoutim on May 2 and 3.
This fair, organised by Globalgarve, a company involved in projects that promote and develop the Algarve region, is aimed at highlighting the Algarve’s Mediterranean diet as well as its importance for tourism. Five restaurants will be represented at the fair to allow visitors to try regional recipes. Stalls offering arts and crafts, sweets and rural tourism destinations will also be present at the fair.
On May 2, a seminar entitled O Mundo Rural Algarvio e a sua Gastronomia, the rural Algarve and its gastronomy, is due to be held at the Pavilhão Multiusos do Azinhal in Castro Marim from 2.30pm. This seminar will also include a talk by representatives from the food and economic standards agency ASAE about legislation for traditional products.
A dinner with modernised traditional Algarvean dishes made by chefs from the hotel and tourism school of Vila Real de Santo António will be held at the Pavilhão Municipal on both evenings. This dinner is subject to prior reservations please telephone 281 511 002.
