Meditation lowers stress

SCIENTISTS HAVE now clearly shown that those who practice meditation have much lower blood pressure and stress levels.

Deepak Chopra, one of the world’s leading exponents of a healthy, holistic lifestyle, says: “Meditation is not a way of making your mind quiet. It’s a way of entering into the quiet that’s already there, buried under the 50,000 thoughts the average person thinks every day.”

Primordial Sound Meditation is a specific form of meditation that originated in India and which has been revived by Deepak Chopra MD and David Simon MD as an effective way of helping people to manage stress and reduce anxiety, enhance sleep patterns, lower blood pressure and improve your relationships. At a more spiritual level, people experience greater inner peace and connect more deeply with spirit.

Anyone can do it, everyone feels the benefits and it is easy to learn. John Hogan, a certified instructor of the Chopra Centre, is organising a two-day course on Primordial Sound Meditation. He also leads a weekly meditation group for beginners through to experienced meditators at Quinta da Calma near Almancil.
