Doctors, clinics and shopping are words not normally associated with one another; certainly not where shopping centres are concerned.
This has changed with the launch of the Clínica Particular do Algarve. The clinic, part of the HPA group (Hospital Particular do Algarve with bases in Faro, Alvor and Portimão), is situated in Guia’s Algarve Shopping on the first floor where the bowling alley was previously. Last Sunday saw the ‘soft opening’ of the clinic with a group of officials, staff and invitees being given a guided tour of the latest in facilities aimed at making health and wellbeing even more accessible.
What has been achieved by Dr João Bacalhau and his team in just a few months is of epic proportions. The clinic offers the latest in medical equipment, technology and therapies. In this clinic, the HPA Group is bringing together mainstream medicine with alternative and complementary therapies.
The dental facilities are second to none, with the clinic having a partnership with Smile Up. Again everything has been considered with a dedicated area for the construction of dentures and implants.
As you would expect, the clinic has a small operating theatre, recovery rooms and an emergency room. Full X-Ray facilities are available on-site along with an analysis laboratory.
Jorge Martins, who assisted in the clinic project, told the Algarve Resident that patients can do a little shopping while waiting for test or X-Ray results, with the clinic then sending an SMS (text) message advising you that the results are ready. The doctor will see you now!
Accessibility to the clinic is simple, even when other parts of the shopping centre are not open, via a private lift. The clinic is open from 8am for those wishing to visit the facility before work and Jorge confirmed that some of the coffee shops in the food hall will also open at 8amso that you can relax with a drink while waiting for your results.
The Clínica Particular do Algarve promises to bring a great feeling of wellbeing and care for all.
