Medical pathologists (doctors that work in State morgues) are threatening strike action as they too are suffering from a shortage of staff. Says SIM – the independent syndicate of doctors – the situation has reached the point where autopsies will soon be impossible at nights, weekends or Bank Holidays. At least seven new pathologists are needed, yet the finance ministry has not authorised the hiring of new intake.
