Measles on increase: WHO warns of “risk of absolute catastrophe”

Cases of measles detected in the last two months have reportedly increased worldwide by 80%. UNICEF and the World Health Organisation warn of the risk of “absolute catastrophe”; “serious epidemics” being potentially on the horizon. The problem stems from delays in child vaccinations through the Covid pandemic. So far, the situation in Portugal is “not a cause for concern”, president of the association of public health doctors Gustavo Tato Borges has said.
