FOLLOWING MONTHS of surveillance, Lisbon Polícia Judiciária have arrested a 50-year-old man from Torres Vedras and seized 9,200 grams of the drug MDMA – the active substance in ecstasy – enough to manufacture 185,000 ecstasy pills. As such, the haul is the biggest ecstasy seizure to date in Portugal. According to police sources, the drug had come from Holland by air and was destined for the Iberian market, with the ecstasy pills being manufactured in Spain or possibly in Portugal.
