Kate and Gerry McCann have announced that they are writing a book to raise funds for the on-going search of their daughter.
The couple, who are writing the book together, have sold the rights to the story of their child’s disappearance and their efforts to find her to Publisher Transworld, who will publish the book in the UK, Commonwealth countries and Europe.
All proceeds from the book, which will be published on April 28 next year, entitled Madeleine and priced £20, will go to the fund that aids the search for Madeleine by private detectives hired by the McCanns.
Kate McCann told the Algarve Resident this week: “We have looked carefully at the impact this book could have on our three children. However, the reason why I’m writing this book is simple: to give an account of the truth.” She added: “With the depletion of Madeleine’s Fund, this decision has virtually been taken out of our hands.”
Gerry McCann said: “We hope this book will aid the search for Madeleine in other ways too.
“It will hopefully reach those who may (consciously or not) have relevant information that they could share with our team of investigators.”
The Portuguese investigations into Madeleine’s disappearance ended in July 2008.
