McCanns ask to be involved in UK phone hacking inquiry

Kate and Gerry McCann have been revealed as being on a list of organisations and names who want to be involved in the judicial inquiry into the phone hacking scandal that has blighted the UK journalism industry.

Barrister David Sherborne told the high court that Kate and Gerry McCann wanted to be considered as core participants in the case, which would allow them to be legally represented, make statements and cross examine witnesses.

Judge Lord Justice Leveson said that he expected the inquiry to last for several months.
