DETECTIVES FROM Spanish private detective agency Método 3, working for the McCann family, have been in Praia da Luz for several days, according to reports in a Portuguese daily newspaper.
Correio da Manhã has carried photographs of people who, it says, are Método detectives in action near the Hugo Beaty Bar & Restaurant in Estrela da Luz Resort.
According to the newspaper, the investigators have been showing residents the sketch based on the testimony of Gail Cooper, the English tourist who reported seeing a suspicious man in the Ocean Club Resort and Praia da Luz beach area in April and May, before Madeleine McCann disappeared.
It is reported that the Metodo 3 detectives arrived at Praia da Luz on Tuesday night (January 29) in two grey Honda cars with Portuguese license plates.
The same report says they stayed in apartments close to a bar that is often used by journalists following the Madeleine case.
A spokeswoman from Metodo 3 refused to confirm this information when contacted today (Friday) by The Resident, saying that all details concerning the Madeleine McCann investigation “were embargoed”.
Meanwhile, the McCanns’ spokesman Clarence Mitchell has told the Portuguese and British media that Gerry and Kate McCann are determined to look for Madeleine “until the day they die”.
He was not available to answer The Resident’s questions and has not replied to messages left on his voicemail.
A source at the Estrela da Luz resort told The Resident that two Spanish guests have been staying at the resort, adding that the men have been in the complex for the last 10 days and that the group was previously joined by another man and a woman, who left five days ago.
The source could not confirm if they were from Metodo 3 and added that they haven’t shown any sketches of a man in the resort’s area.
According to Correio da Manhã, the investigators are said to have kept a low profile, interviewing locals and avoiding questions from reporters who were trying to find out for how long they were planning to stay in Praia da Luz.
