Mayor of Viseu battles for life in ICU

The mayor of Viseu Almeida Marques is battling for his life in intensive care in Hospital de São Teotónio. Diagnosed with Covid-19 at the beginning of March, the first bulletins said he was ‘feeling well, with only light symptoms, and working from home’. But within days his health had seriously deteriorated and he was admitted to hospital, finally into intensive care on March 10. This evening, the municipality of Viseu has issued a statement to say that the last few hours have seen “unfavourable evolution with a worsening of (his) clinical state”. The municipality has thanked local citizens for all their messages of support.
