Maximum temperatures could reach 34ºC in some regions of mainland Portugal over the next few days, with an increase in the risk of rural fires and significant quantities of dust from North Africa expected in the air, according to national meteorological institute, IPMA. “Temperatures are quite high for what is normal for the month of October,” meteorologist Patricia Marques admits. “The maximum is 8º to 9º above normal. This situation is expectedat least until the 8th (Saturday). On the 9th (Sunday) a decrease to values within the normal range for this month is expected”, she said.
