Cycling’s traditional Tour of Portugal pipe-opener, the 35th Joaquim Agostinho Trophy in Torres Vedras, was won for the second year in succession by Ricardo Mestre of Carmim-Prio-Tavira.

The 30-year-old Algarvean from Castro Marim secured his 20-second victory by taking last Sunday’s third and final stage and will be favourite to defend his 2011 Tour of Portugal crown between August 15 and 26.
