Massive sculpture to be offered to Pope by Portuguese association

A massive sculpture featuring Jesus Christ on the cross alongside the Virgin Mary is to be offered to Pope Francis by a Portuguese cultural association. ACAR, the Caldas da Rainha-based Cultural Association of Love and Responsibility will be travelling to Rome for a papal audience on June 18. The sculpture, which is nearly three metres high, is intended to demonstrate the “theology of the human body”, explained a member of the association.
