A new taste experience is now available in the centre of Portimão with Masala House, specialising in authentic Indian cuisine.
Sandeep, the chef and owner, is originally from Delhi, with experience gained in Switzerland before deciding on the Algarve for his new venture. With the front of house run by Srikanth, very knowledgeable about the dishes, he can suggest the spices to make a truly special taste experience.
All dishes are prepared fresh with locally sourced ingredients and the freshest of herbs and spices.
As the summer approaches, the outside seating area has been designed to give privacy to the diner, with shade from the sun during the day. Indoor tables are well spaced with an attractive décor and tranquil Indian music, making this an ideal lunch, dinner or even afternoon location.
Starters include Samosas, Pakoras, salads and soups, to accompany the fantastically tasty pickle tray.
Main courses have a choice of several rice dishes, salads, Naan bread and to accompany the choice of Tandoori specialties, Biryani dishes that include a choice of chicken, lamb, beef or seafood. Some dishes are available as a half portion.
A personal favourite has to be the Rogan Josh – so tasty, with the fresh herbs and then the spices gradually becoming more prominent.
A must is to finish with the Indian Ice Cream, flavours of Pistachio being hard to beat by the Mango, accompanied with Gulab Jamun – butter balls.
With Indian cuisine at its best, this restaurant is well worth a visit.
The restaurant is situated in front of the Câmara, with underground parking available just across the road.
Open from 10am until midnight, with snacks available between 3pm and 6pm.
