Martinhal’s first-ever Olympic triathlon almost here!

Martinhal Beach Resort & Hotel’s first-ever Olympic triathlon is just over a week away.
Taking place on October 26, the event aims to provide an “an amazing ride through Sagres and to take participants to Finisterra – the end of the world as Europeans thought until the 1400s”.
Besides “supporting local tourism and great sporting and personal feats”, the competition will also have a charitable side, with all proceeds going to NECI – a local charity based in the Western Algarve for mentally and physically handicapped children and adults.
To bring the competition to life, Martinhal teamed up with the Algarve Triathlons group, started recently by local businessmen John Hill and Tom Longhurst.
There will be two separate events – a Sprint Triathlon (750m swim in the sea, 40km bike ride and 10km run) and an Olympic Triathlon (1.5km swim, 40km bike ride and 10km run) – for which people can sign up either individually or as a team.
Prices range from between €30 for individuals and €65 for teams in the sprint fixture, and between €40 and €90 for the Olympic race.
Other deals, including accommodation, are also available.
