Marquês dos Vales’ wines have again achieved success in the 6th competition of ‘The Best Wine of the Algarve’ held on August 17 at the Fatacil, which runs until August 25 in Lagoa.
The important competition has once again rewarded the prestigious white wines of Quinta dos Vales. This year recognition fell upon the Grace Vineyard white and Grace Viognier, both from the 2012 harvest, which were awarded two Gold medals. Adding to this achievement, the Viognier was also considered “The Best Wine of the Algarve”, winning the Grand Gold medal.
These medals join the other 80 prizes already achieved by Quinta dos Vales, 12 of which have been won this year in various international competitions.
This year’s first success took place in March in China, where the Estombar winery received a Gold medal for the Marquês dos Vales Selecta red 2010 and the Trophy for Portuguese Wine Producer Of The Year 2013 at the China Wine & Spirits Awards (CWSA).
These were followed in May by a Silver medal for the Marquês dos Vales GraceTouriga Nacional 2009 at the Sommelier Wine Awards 2013 in the UK, and a Silver medal for the Marquês dos Vales Selecta Rosé 2012 in the Primeiro Concurso de Vinhos Nacionais held during the fifth ‘Grande Mostra de Vinhos de Portugal’ organised by Confraria do Bacchus de Albufeira.
In the following weeks, Quinta dos Vales managed some more good results in the International Wine Challenge (IWC), the Decanter World Wines Awards (DWWA) and the International Wine & Spirit Competition (IWSC), with the Grace Verdelho white 2012 having won two Silver medals (IWC e IWSC) and the Grace Vineyard red 2008 having won two Bronze medals (IWC e IWSC) and a Commendation (DWWA).
The Grace Viognier 2012 and the Primeira Selecção red 2010 both received a Bronze medal in the International Wine & Spirit Competition, and the latter also received a Commendation at the Decanter World Wines Awards.
