PORTUGAL’S MOST famous singer, Mariza, will be performing at Portimão Arena on January 13 in a unique concert presented by the Algarve Tourist Board (RTA) and Portimão Câmara.
Following her recent nomination in the Best European Artist category for the BBC Radio 3 Awards for World Music, Mariza has announced that she wants “to bring the universal language of Fado to the Algarve”.
The singer will be performing tracks from her most recent album Transparente. The CD has gone double platinum in Portugal this year and been well received worldwide.
Since then, Mariza has toured internationally, playing at prestigious venues throughout North America and at London’s Royal Albert Hall. She has recently performed to full houses at the coliseums in Lisbon and Porto.
According to RTA, “the show will kick off the Algarve’s new year in style by showcasing the most famous fadista of the moment”. The doors open at 9pm with the show beginning at 10pm.
