Former education minister Maria de Lurdes Rodrigues has received a suspended prison sentence of three years and six months, plus a fine of €30,000, after being found guilty of collusion over the hiring “through friendship” of João Pedroso.
João Pedroso is the brother of the former Socialist minister implicated in the Casa Pia paedophile scandal Paulo Pedroso.
Rodrigues, who was education minister from 2005-2009 is said to be shocked at her sentence and considering an appeal.
