President Marcelo has told State broadcaster RTP that he will be taking the government’s much-criticised ‘Mais Habitação’ housing programme on holiday with him (to the Algarve), so that he can “analyse it more carefully” before deciding whether to promulgate or veto. His concern is over issues that have sparked the most in public outcry – the plan for ‘forced State rental of habitable vacant properties’ and the addition of further controls within the AL (short-term) rentals sector.
