President Marcelo leaves the country again tomorrow – this time bound for the United States. Only recently back from a State visit to Angola, Marcelo now is set to meet Portuguese communities living in Los Angeles, San Diego, San José, San Joaquin Valley and San Francisco. It will be an event packed trip taking up the whole of next week, and culminating with a visit on October 6 to Malta for a meeting with the ‘Arraiolos Group’ (which is not, as it may sound, a group involved in the promotion of Arraiolos carpets). The Arraiolos Group is an informal meeting of Presidents of parliamentary and semi-presidential European Union member states. It meets roughly once a year.
