Portugal’s president Marcelo has been involved in what media outlets are calling a ‘tense exchange of words’ with the head of Palestine’s diplomatic mission here. The incident took place at the ‘diplomatic bazaar’ event, held at Lisbon congress centre earlier today. Marcelo was filmed saying to Nabil Abuznaid, in English: “I know that you blame Israel for this, but this time someone from your side started it (…) You should not have started it”. For the full exchange, see SIC Notícias. Mr Abuznaid said afterwards he was “disappointed” by the President’s take on the situation, suggesting he didn’t once mention the people of Gaza.
