President Marcelo has been meeting with political parties in parliament today to discuss the renovation of Portugal’s State of Emergency, which comes to an end on March 31. He has already intimated that he means to continue issuing decrees until the country has fully ‘deconfined’ (click here). PM António Costa supports this decision but there are many MPs of minority parties who do not, stress reports. Marcelo is due to send his new proposal for a decree to parliament in time for a debate in the house tomorrow (Thursday). It will be “very similar” in form to the last decree, he has said.
