Marcelo discusses Russian invasion and EU membership with President of Moldova

President Marcelo has been in touch with his Moldovan counterpart Maia Sandu by telephone today, to discuss the Russian invasion of Ukraine (Moldova’s close neighbour) and the little country’s bid to join the European Union. Moldova has “contributed to the development of our country”, writes the president on his official site – affinity being in “the common origin of our languages”. But most important is how Moldova fares in the face of ongoing hostilities. According to reports, Marcelo “confirmed Portuguese support for Moldova and Ukraine”.
