In a bid to make pet owners feel more welcome than ever, Mar Shopping Algarve in Loulé is hosting workshops for dogs in February with the aim of teaching them how to socialise with other animals and people, how to stay mentally stimulated and even some easy tricks.
Owners can also choose to enrol their four-legged friend in personalised classes.
This is all part of an effort to make the shopping centre as “pet-friendly” as possible.
In November, Mar Shopping inaugurated its pet-sitting service called ‘Woofland’ which provides visitors with the opportunity to leave their pets in the care of experienced handlers while they shop.
It is precisely at the 200sqm Woofland area – located outside of the shopping centre – where most of these workshops will be taking place.
Socialising workshops will be held once a month, costing €10 per workshop, with the first scheduled for February 9 at 6pm. The others will take place on March 8, April 12, May 10 and June 14.
A series of workshops on how to keep your dog mentally stimulated with games and other activities will also be held once a month: February 23 at 6pm, March 22, April 19, May 24 and June 21. Cost is €25 per session.
Personalised training schemes are also available with sessions taking place on Wednesdays and Fridays from 6pm to 7pm for puppies and from 7pm to 8pm for adult dogs. The monthly fee is €39 for one weekly lesson or €59 for two.
Shoppers and their pets can also attend free ‘tips and tricks’ sessions taking place on the mall’s ground floor on February 1 at 3pm, March 7, April 4 and June 6.
For more information about these events or to sign up, contact organisers via email ([email protected]) or visit Woofland.
Mar Shopping will also be hosting pet adoption fairs in in collaboration with the many animal associations spread out across the Algarve.
