Mar Shopping Algarve in Loulé will host free skin cancer screenings on the last weekend of this month (January 29 and 30).
The screenings will take place between 11am and 7pm near the shopping centre’s pharmacy and HPA clinic.
Organised with the help of the Algarve Oncology Association (AOA), the screenings will be carried out on a first-come, first-served basis.
As AOA points out, the Algarve is a “very sunny region” making it particularly important for those who live here or visit to make sure they protect their skin from the sun. Says the association, even in the winter, people should know how to protect their skin from possible lesions.
The screenings will allow people to receive an update on the state of their skin and know if they are in need of a deeper screening or an appointment with a dermatologist.
Mar Shopping Algarve and Mar Shopping Matosinhos (in the north of Portugal) have been organising health screenings every month since last year to raise awareness about the importance of detecting illnesses early.
