A map detailing house locations and numbers in Vale Telheiro has been presented to the GNR by members of the neighbourhood group (see the Algarve Resident edition January 22).
The map, which not only shows the locations of all the homes in the area, but also provides GPS coordinates for each property and contact telephone numbers, was presented to Loulé GNR on February 17.
A spokesman for the neighbourhood group said: “We found houses that we didn’t even know existed and an added bonus of the project has been that neighbours who previously didn’t know one another have met and exchanged information. We now have a community looking out for each other.” A similar project for Poço Geraldo near Loulé is now also underway by the residents and is due to be completed in the next two weeks.
Members of the Vale Telheiro group are happy to provide information and assistance to anyone also wishing to carry out a similar scheme.
