Manuela Ferreira Leite to run for president?

Former PSD leader Manuela Ferreira Leite could well be in the running for president after refusing to confirm she will not be a presidential candidate for Portugal’s upcoming elections in 2016.

During her Thursday (February 19) appearance on the ‘Política Mesmo’ slot on TVI24, the politician avoided a number of questions about her possible bid for the presidency, smiling as she said: “I didn’t hear your question” and “I believe your time is up”.

Finally, she said that “if I have any news on this subject, I will let you know on TVI”.

Ferreira Leite – who was the leader of PSD between 2008 and 2010 – thus adds her name to a list of possible presidential candidates for PSD, which already includes Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, Rui Rio and Pedro Santa Lopes.
